Nuts about this primer!

Max Factor primer 2

I happened to come across this Max Factor Primer last week while looking at the make-up that was on sale at Clicks. This primer was unfortunately not on sale, but is well worth it’s price. Primer has become one of my key make-up products in the morning and I always feel ready to tackle anything if I’ve applied it before my make-up. After application this primer sinks straight into my skin and instantly makes it feel matt. It also has an SPF of 20 which is perfect for when you are outdoors in summer (don’t forget your sunscreen and hat though). At the end of the day, my make-up still looks great and is firmly in place, without any hint of shine. It really does extend the wear of my foundation. This is a huge feat considering it’s summer here and the last few days have been sweltering hot. The ladies at Clicks told me that this is end of range, and if it is I am really sorry to hear that. It’s a fantastic primer that is affordably priced at R185. I may just have to go buy another one before they disappear for good.

Sorbet’s Hydrating Body Butter

This moisturiser just didn’t work for me

The Dermaceutic Turn Over Stimulating Night Cream is a night cream that promotes skin turnover and reduces the appearance of signs of ageing. Turn Over is recommended to treat loss of skin tone, wrinkles and fine lines. The night cream’s formula of concentrated glycolic acid removes dead cells that build up on the skin’s surface and stimulates cellular renewal. If you’re wondering what glycolic acid does: it reduces corneocyte cohesion of the keratin layer of the skin, enabling homogeneous exfoliation of upper layers. By removing dead cells from the skin surface, the signs of aging are less visible, the skin appears smoother, and complexion is more homogeneous.

I am always keen to try out new products and the Dermaceutic Turn Over Stimulating Night Cream sounded really great when I received one to review. I first tried it out in winter and didn’t enjoy the results I started experiencing when my nose began peeling. I stopped using the product and decided to try it again in summer. I tried it again recently, and for the first 3 days I didn’t see any peeling on my nose. But, while applying my make-up on the 4th day, I noticed my skin had started peeling again.

I am just too impatient to wait for the peeling to stop, so I gave up with this product. I am also not a fan of its smell (it’s a little odd) and the fact that it also burns a little. So if you have sensitive skin, I don’t think you should use it. Unfortunately this product didn’t work for my skin so I won’t be purchasing it.
