I must admit when I saw that MAC was bringing Heroine back I didn’t really know too much about it. That might be because it isn’t a coral shade… I went to MAC in Rosebank and asked them if they had it so that I could see it firsthand and I was told they only received 3 lipsticks – 1 tester and 2 lipsticks which sold out immediately. My first question is why on earth would they only give the store 2 lipsticks to sell if this is a popular shade they brought back? I know quite a few ladies who are dying to get their hands on one. So I decided to go home and see if I could order it online, knowing full well that it could potentially be sold out online too.
I still, however, had not seen what Heroine would look like on me… One of the many wonderful things about Pinterest is you can do a search for a lipstick and almost always it immediately brings up tons of pictures with swatches of that lipstick as well as pictures of beautiful ladies who are wearing the shade. This is great because even though the purple looks quite dark on the lipstick bullet, I wasn’t too sure what it would look like on me. Well there was one picture on Pinterest of a stunning lady wearing it that had me sold and I knew that I needed this lipstick shade in my life!
She looks so gorgeous in this shade I had to get it!
I logged on to the MAC online store for South Africa and ordered Heroine immediately. Although the delivery time is quite long (more than 5 days which feels like f-o-r-e-v-e-r) it was worth the wait and I am absolutely in love with this colour! Thank you MAC for brining it back.
It finally arrived!
Very happy with this shade
These are some of the beautiful ladies I saw on Pinterest wearing Heroine.
When it comes to choosing lipsticks and lipglosses, and very often nail enamels, I always pick coral! I first wore a coral colour on my nails about 5 years ago and it quickly became a constant in my unique look. These two coral lipsticks are currently my favourites. I got them in Indonesia and Singapore while traveling overseas in December.
We don’t have the Maybelline Bold Matte range in South Africa yet and I really hope it comes this way. I found this lipstick in a small pharmacy in Kuta Beach, Bali. I fell in love with how bright this lipstick is and I didn’t have a matte coral yet. It does dry my lips out a little bit so I make sure I keep vaseline or a clear lipgloss with me to apply over it. This shade is called MAT1. I love it so much I asked my mom to bring me another one when she lands in 2 weeks.
This is the first MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick I have bought. I love its creamy texture and how it feels on my lips. The colour called out to me instantly while I was standing at the MAC counter in duty free in Singapore. I had first thought I would get a pink lipstick and ended up leaving with this one. This shade is called Full Speed.
Interestingly enough I heard that a study had been conducted last year in South Africa and many women said they never wore coral. I think many women choose “safer” shades when it comes to lipstick and lipgloss and opt for nudes or light pinks. I say be daring, you only live once. Wear a coral lipstick and go out for the evening with the girls. I can guarantee you you will receive lots of compliments and you will find yourself feeling more confident.
A trend I am really excited about is berry lips for winter. When it comes to choosing lipsticks I will always go for coral, but I must say I have fallen head over heels for berry lips. These deep, bold colours are just so inviting!
I have been looking for a while for a great berry but just couldn’t seem to find one that was right. Luckily I finally found this one and bought the Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in 075 Blackberry.
