Cobbler to the stars, Rupert Sanderson found inspiration from snakes in his latest Spring/Summer 14 campaign.
The eponymous shoe designer added a daring element to the collection by looking to the animal kingdom, and enlisting the help of slithering snakes to showcase his sexy, striking designs.
“Snakes are very sensuous and there is a great association between fashion and reptiles. The exotic nature of the serpent combined with the sculptural quality of the marble setting has delivered us an immensely luxurious campaign,” says Rupert Sanderson about the ad campaign.
Strappy high heels, sexy wedges and elegant pumps attest to his design philosophy of “less is more” with an adventurous edge. Bold colours, beautiful textures and laser cut detailing are offset by rainbow snakes, photographed by Eddie Wrey and styled by Tamara Rothstein.
“In the first shot, there was a lot of screaming!” Sanderson said. “But as the day progressed, everyone became so used to having the snakes around. It was more about their silhouettes and the graphic shapes they were making than the snakes themselves.”
Rupert Sanderson is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his dedication to his craft.
